Summer Heat Tries To Build Back

After a cooler week coming off of a hot one, many miss the summer heat as we move into the end of August. The good news is signs are pointing to a warm-up as we head after midweek into the weekend. As we head into the weekend ridging is expected to set up over the Dakotas and Minnesota ahead of an upper level waves expected to lift into the Northern Plains from the West and Northwest United States at the beginning of next week.

Depending on how exactly these upper level waves track will determine exactly how warm we get but I foresee more humid conditions and temperatures in the 80s to near 90 degrees Friday through Sunday. Heat may carry over into the beginning of the week, but I expect things to cool off after a cold front swings through either Sunday night or Monday along with a chance for storms. Long range models indicate potential for a second warmup at the end of the following week.
