Some MUCH needed rain overnight into this morning. The rain will move north throughout the day leaving the central/southern Valley with drier conditions. Quite a bit of rain has fallen and the good news is, the ground is NOT frozen so this soaks right in:
So, after the precip moves north today, we will see temps fall this afternoon into the 30s. Tonight, the precip to our north will collapse back in on the area with snow overspreading much of the Valley into Western MN. We aren’t looking for a LOT of snow 1-4″ BUT with winds out of the west around 20-40mph, we will see reduced visibility with blowing snow on Wednesday and slippery travel. Here’s a look at a few of our models, notice the consistency:
Summary: rain moves north through lunchtime. Rain continues in the N. Valley through the day today while rain ends central/southern valley. Snow will move in from the north after midnight and continue through the first half of the day on Wednesday with 20-40mph winds out of the West producing blowing snow and reduced visibility. Wed. AM commute will be tricky with reduced visibility and blowing/drifting snow.
