Utah’s “Yeti” nickname refused by U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has refused the moniker “Utah Yetis” for Salt Lake City’s NHL team.

According to KSL in Salt Lake City, the office denied the nickname due to a “likelihood of confusion” with brands such as Yeti Coolers LLC. The team is currently playing as the Utah Hockey Club. The organization still plans to announce a permanent name before the 2025-26 NHL season.
