Twins fall to Marlins; playoff hopes dwindling

A disastrous second innings cost the Minnesota Twins in their 4-1 loss to the Miami Marlins last night.

Minnesota gave up all four runs in the second inning. Bailey Ober gave up four runs over five innings with seven strikeouts, eventually being tagged with the loss. Scott Blewett tossed 1 ⅓ shutout innings, while Caleb Thielbar recorded two outs. Michael Tonkin and Cole Irvin each threw a scoreless inning. Royce Lewis drove in the Twins’ only run.

Minnesota is now two games back of both Detroit and Kansas City for the third and final American League Wild Card spot.
