Student to race NDSU car at ARCA 200 at Daytona Int’l Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A North Dakota State University junior will fulfill a lifelong dream driving a Bison car in the Daytona ARCA 200 Febraury 15.

West Fargo native and mechanical engineering student Bryce Haugeberg will take to the track in the sport he’s taken part in since he was eight-years-old. His racing career began at Red River Kart Club in Fargo where he drove a go-kart. Now he races dirt winged sprint cars at regional tracks including Fargo’s Red River Valley Speedway and Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon which his family operates.

Haugeberg believes his studies helps him on the track.

“I’ve always been interested in how things work. Racing is all about understanding the mechanics of the car, and studying mechanical engineering was a perfect fit for me. It’s not just about driving fast, it’s about making sure the car is set up right,” Haugeberg said.

Haugeberg is honored to represent NDSU on the national stage and hopes this opportunity will only further his career in racing.

“I want to stay in the racing industry. Whether I’m driving or working on the cars, I just want to keep learning and growing in this field. My goal is to take everything I’ve learned at NDSU and apply it to the racing world. This is just the beginning,” Haugeberg explained.

The Daytona ARCA 200 takes place Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 AM. You can watch the race on Fox or the Fox Sports app. There will also be a watch party at the Buffalo Wild Wings on 19th Avenue in Fargo.
