Sam Darnold to start Training Camp as Vikings top QB

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings won’t be giving their first-round quarterback first-team reps once training camp begins next month.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters yesterday that veteran journeyman Sam Darnold will begin camp as the starting quarterback. Darnold was signed as a free agent in March after Kirk Cousins spurned the Purple to join Atlanta, but the Vikings used the tenth overall pick to draft Michigan QB JJ McCarthy in April.

Minnesota wrapped up OTAs yesterday and will begin training camp at the end of July.
