(FARGO, ND) – The NDSU Bison are no stranger to post-season play.
And they’re no stranger to playing in January, either. NDSU will take on Montana State next Monday in the FCS National Championship in Frisco, Texas. The Bison are making their 11th appearance in the national championship game and looking for their third title in four years.
The game is moving from an afternoon night into prime-time Monday night.
“It’s going to be a fun night,” Associate Head Coach Randy Hedberg told Tim Flakoll, guest host on the Jay Thomas Show. “Most of the championship games we’ve played down in Frisco have been early A.M. games, and this one will be in the evening, so this one will be a little bit of a changeup for us.”
The Bison have returned to Fargo for practices during the holiday season, Hedberg said. Players were allowed to leave campus in the days leading up to Christmas Eve, to allow them to spend time with family on the holiday season. The team members returned to Fargo on the evening of December 26, with practices beginning at that time.
“They have a pretty structured day,” Hedberg said of the players’ routines. “We kind of go at our same format of what we do practice-wise.”
Players have been studying film regularly to prepare for the game.
