Multiple missed field goals cost Gophers in season opening loss to North Carolina

The Minnesota Golden Gophers missed two field goals in a 19-17 loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels in Minneapolis on Thursday evening.

Max Brosmer completed 13 of 21 passes for 166 yards. Marcus Major tallied 20 carries for 73 yards and one touchdown.

Cody Lindenberg led the Gopher defense with 11 tackles.

Dragan Kesich made both extra points, but only connected on one out of three field goal attempts. He made a 30 yard field goal, but missed from 27 and 47 yards in the loss.

The Gophers will now host Rhode Island on Saturday, September 7.
