MSUM earns No. 2 seed in NCAA Central Region Tournament

After winning a third NSIC Tournament championship in the past four seasons, the MSUM Dragon men’s basketball team has earned a fifth consecutive national tournament berth.

The Dragons found themselves in a tough spot after a 73-68 OT loss to Wayne State back on January 25, where they dropped to 12-8 on the season. At this time a national tournament appearance seemed nearly impossible to most outside the program… Since that loss MSUM has won 11 straight games, including five wins against teams that will be playing in this very Central Region Tournament.

The Dragons are one of five NSIC teams to make the field, joined by Winona State, Minot State, Concordia-St. Paul, and Southwest Minnesota State. For the Beavers (Minot State) this is the first national tournament appearance for the program in the Division II era.

MSUM will battle No. 7 seeded Fort Hayes State in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
