Three legends are now calling Cooperstown home. Outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, left-hander CC Sabathia and closer Billy Wagner have been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Suzuki fell one vote shy of joining longtime Yankees closer Mariano Rivera as the second player to ever win unanimous support from the writers on the first ballot. The first Japanese-born player ever elected to the Hall of Fame spent the majority of his career with the Seattle Mariners, where he collected 2,5oo of his 3,089 hits.
Sabathia joins Suzuki as being honored as a first-ballot Hall of Famer. The 2007 AL Cy Young winner won 251 games in his career and helped the Yankees capture the 2009 World Series.
Wagner joins the Hall of Fame in his final appearance on the ballot. His 422 career saves are the eighth-most in MLB history.
