Gophers find new Defensive Coordinator

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Gophers football team will have a new defensive coordinator for the 2025 season.

The team promoted safeties coach Danny Collins to the role on Thursday afternoon. Collins takes over for Corey Hetherman, who left the program to take a job with the Miami Hurricanes following the 2024 regular season. The team also hired former Purdue defensive coordinator Kevin Kane to coach nickel defensive backs and linebackers.
