ESPN: Rodriguez & Lore ready to buy Timberwolves for nearly $1 billion

MINNEAPOLIS – ESPN’s Shams Charania reports minority owners Alex Rodriguez and Mark Lore have $940 million in a bank account ready to wire to majority owner Glen Taylor and the NBA for outright control of the Timberwolves and Lynx.

That is if they win an arbitration case set for November 4.

Lore and Rodriguez agreed more than three years ago to buy the Timberwolves for $1.5 billion. Taylor stopped the sale in March because he said the two missed the deadline to make the final payment. Lore and Rodriguez have say they had the cash to complete the deal but were delayed by the NBA in its approval process.

Taylor bout the Timberwolves in 1994 for $94 million and bought the Lynx in 1999.

The Timberwolves begin their season against the Lakers Tuesday night at 9:00 on TNT.
