Bison WBB scores season-high 93 points in blowout win over Kansas City

The Bison would snatch a quick 8-2 lead In the early minutes of the first, before Kansas City would score six straight points to tie it up at 13 each.

Both North Dakota State and Kansas City would match each other’s offense for the remainder of the first. After a couple of Kansas City free-throws courtesy of Tamia Ugass, tied the game at 20, Marisa Frost would put the Bison ahead 22-20, at the end of the first quarter with a made lay-up.

The Second quarter was all North Dakota State, as they started off with a 15-4 run. The Roo’s would only go on to score five more points in the quarter, being outscored by the Bison 24-9 in the second period.

NDSU would lead at half, 46-29.

The Bison would carry their first half momentum into the second half, as Kansas City couldn’t stop NDSU’s offense. Abby Krzewinski was a big contributor in the third quarter for the Bison. The sophomore guard scored eight points in the third quarter, including a three-point shot to give North Dakota State a 28-point lead, their biggest lead of the night.

NDSU would breeze through the fourth quarter, at one point scoring seven straight points via the free-throw line. Kansas City never brought it closer then 20 points, resulting in a 93-67 blowout win for North Dakota.

Five Bison reached double-dights in the Thursday night victory. Avery Koenen led NDSU with 20 points, falling one rebound short of a double-double, with nine. Abby Krzewinski dropped a career high of 18 points, with Mariah Frost added 15 points. Abbie Draper gave the Bison 14 points, and Molly Lentz contributed 10 points.

The win gives NDSU their 18th win on the season, sitting at 18-10 overall, 10-5 in the Summit League.

North Dakota State has one more regular season game before gearing up for the Summit League tournament next week. The Bison will honor their seniors on senior day when they host the Omaha Mavericks on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
