Welfare check results in arrest after authorities discover evidence of child abuse in Minot home

MINOT, ND — Two suspects are in custody following a welfare check in southeast Minot on Thursday.

Officers were called to the home and found a five-year-old child displaying signs of abuse and neglect. Police say unspecified quantities of suspected narcotics and related paraphernalia were also discovered at the scene. The child was brought to a nearby hospital for an evaluation.

Police say a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, child neglect and abuse, and endangerment of a child or vulnerable adult.
