(ST. PAUL, MINN) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has proposed a first-of-its-kind proposal for the state of Minnesota.
In his State of the State address, delivered in front of a joint session of the Minnesota Legislature, Walz proposed a reduction in the statewide sales tax. He said that though it’s never been done, there’s ‘never been a better time to try it than now.’
Walz also said the state is working to improve efficiency and customer service across state agencies, along with asking the ‘big health insurance corporations’ to pay their fair share by increasing the surcharge HMOs currently pay.
