UND to receive and display NASA space capsule at Space Studies program

GRAND FORKS, ND — A NASA space capsule will arrive at the University of North Dakota’s campus in Grand Forks Monday.

The capsule was used as part of a test run in Virginia in the event of an aborted launch. It allows for astronauts and cargo to be ejected from the spacecraft and land safely back on Earth.

Students with the Space Studies program will help refurbish the 18,000 pound capsule and it will then be on permanent display.
