GRAND FORKS, ND — Freshman enrollment appears to be up substantially at the University of North Dakota.
The initial estimates indicate a nearly 24% increase in the freshman class this year over last. The unofficial headcount was 2,221 freshmen this year compared to 1,793 last September. Overall enrollment is also on the rise with 6.2% more students this year compared to 2023.
Officials say some of the increase is due to new programs like the aerospace engineering major.
