State of Emergency declared in Williams County

(WILLISTON) – Officials in Williams County have declared a local State of Emergency in response to the recent high winds and expansive grass fires in Williams County.

Estimates show that more than 88,000 acres burned across central and eastern Williams County between Saturday and Sunday. An investigation into the start of the fires is currently ongoing.

Eight injuries were reported over the course of the two-day fire event period, and two fatalities resulted.
