DEER RIVER, ND — Healthcare workers in Deer River, Minnesota have begun a planned six-day strike against Essentia Health.
Members of the Service Employees International Union are asking Essentia for higher wages and benefits for workers at the Deer River clinic and nursing home.
The company says the proposals suggested by the union are unrealistic given the financial challenges involved in rural healthcare.
