SD Gov. Noem vows to secure border during Homeland Security confirmation hearing

WASHINGTON – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem shares her support for border security during her confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

“Border security must remain a top priority. As a nation, we have the right and responsibility to secure our borders against those who would do us harm and we must create a fair and a lawful immigration system that is efficient and effective and reflects our values,” Noem explained.

Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut asked Noem about about the first Trump Administration’s family separation policy at the southern border.

“The Trump Administration never had a family separation policy. They had a zero tolerance policy which said our laws would be followed. What I’m alarmed by is the over 300,000 children that went missing during the Biden Administration,” Noem said.
