(ST. PAUL, MINN) – Embattled Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell (D-Woodbury) is facing another felony charge.
Prosecutors are adding a felony possession of tools used in a burglary or theft charge. Mitchell was originally charged with felony burglary after she was arrested in the basement of her stepmother’s home. The second charge is based on evidence that she had a flashlight with a black sock over it, was dressed in black clothing, and possessed a blue crowbar found in a window well that her stepmother didn’t recognize.
“The circus surrounding the Senate needs to stop,” Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson (R-East Grand Forks) said. “We have real business to attend to: balancing a budget, addressing fraud, and putting Minnesotans First. Senate Democrats need to demonstrate that they are serious about solving problems in a bipartisan manner and do the right thing: end the sideshow and let the voters pick a new senator.”
