Minnesota trooper pleads not guilty to manslaughter charge

ROCHESTER, MN — A Minnesota State trooper accused of killing an Owatonna High School cheerleader in a crash has pleaded not guilty.

Shane Roper has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide in the death of Olivia Flores. Prosecutors say Roper was driving at a high rate of speed on May 18th while on duty before crashing into a vehicle with Flores and two others inside. Flores died the next day. A trial is set for late March 2025.

The victim’s family plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Roper.
