Minnesota state and legislative leaders stump for VP candidate Walz in rural areas

MORGAN, MN — A former U.S. Senator and Minnesota’s current lieutenant governor are trying to persuade farmers to vote for the Democratic presidential ticket.

Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan defended the governor’s agriculture record as she filled in for him at Farmfest in Redwood County. Flanagan pointed to programs such as low-interest loans and disaster relief during droughts and flooding as ways that Walz has supported farmers during his tenure.

Former North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp spoke yesterday at the event. Heitkamp told her audience that Governor Tim Walz will give rural America “a seat at the table” if he is elected vice president in November.
