Minnesota Primary Election results in few shake-ups for upcoming General

ST PAUL, MN  –Minnesota’s congressional delegation is likely to be much the same after the November general election.

DFL Senator Amy Klobuchar and seven of the current members of the House of Representatives won their primaries by large margins yesterday. Fifth District DFL Congresswoman Ilhan Omar had the tightest race but still beat challenger Don Samuels by more than 16-thousand votes. Democrats Angie Craig and Betty McCollum and Republicans Brad Finstad, Tom Emmer, Michelle Fischbach and Pete Stauber also advanced.

The one race that will feature two newcomers is in the Third Congressional District, where DFL candidate Kelly Morrison and Republican Tad Jude were both unchallenged. They’ll face each other for the seat currently held by Democrat Dean Phillips.
