ST. PAUL, MN –The state of Minnesota is awarding more than $50 million in grants to expand broadband access around the state.
Governor Walz announced the grants yesterday, saying they would fund high-speed internet access for nearly 9,000 homes and businesses. More than $33 million was awarded through the Border-to-Border Broadband Program, while nearly $20 million came from the Low Population Density Program.
“Investing in broadband infrastructure benefits businesses and communities across the state,” said Governor Walz in a statement. “By connecting thousands of Minnesotans to businesses, education, and health care through broadband, we’re making Minnesota the best place to work, live, and do business.”
Two-dozen broadband projects will be supported through the grants.
