House passes property tax relief bill

(BISMARCK, ND) — The North Dakota House has passed a property tax relief bill.

House Bill 1176 creates a property tax relief fund in the state treasury fund. The bill also calls for a primary residence credit limited to $1,450. The credit will not be allowed to reduce the property tax due on voter-approved levies. It also cannot reduce the liability for special assessments and may not exceed the amount of property tax due against the primary residence. The bill passed the House 81-10 and now heads to the Senate.

Governor Kelly Armstrong calls the move ‘good news for North Dakota homeowners.’
