Hearing for Minnesota state senator Nicole Mitchell postponed

(Fargo, ND) — The court hearing for Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell’s is postponed as her attorneys requested more documents from prosecutors.

She’s accused of burglarizing her stepmother’s home.

Mitchell was arrested in April after admitting to entering the house to retrieve her late father’s ashes and belongings.

Mitchell Initially claimed she was checking on her stepmother, who the lawmaker says has Alzheimer’s.

Mitchell’s defense attorneys are now seeking medical records related to the stepmother’s condition.

Mitchell faces a charge of first-degree burglary.

The hearing has been rescheduled for July 9.
