Group against possible North Dakota property tax ballot initiative surfaces

BISMARCK, ND — More than 60 organizations have joined together to oppose a proposed measure that would eliminate property taxes in North Dakota.

The group call themselves the “Keep It Local” coalition, and they’re worried the initiative would prevent political entities from levying property taxes. Keep It Local says property taxes bring in $1.3 billion dollars a year, and that kind of money can’t be replaced.

The “End Unfair Property Tax” initiative has until June 29th to get enough signatures to make it on the ballot in November.
