Grand Forks fire crews respond to hazmat spill

(GRAND FORKS) – Grand Forks fire crews responded to a hazmat spill just after 5 p.m. Tuesday on 32nd Avenue South.

According to Battalion Chief Chris Carlson, firefighters were dispatched to 4401 32nd Avenue South for a large hazmat spill. The initial arriving units encountered a semi carrying Ammonium Bisulfite tipped on its side. Crews worked to dam the product spilling from the trailer, preventing it from getting into the city’s storm sewer system.

Grand Forks Public Works applied sand to the spilled product, and a contractor cleaned up the product.

No one was injured.
