Governor Tim Walz sets deadline for choosing state’s Democratic presidential nominee

(Fargo, ND) — A committee co-chaired by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has set a timeline for choosing the state’s Democratic presidential nominee.

The Convention Rules Committee decided yesterday that potential nominees must declare their candidacy by Saturday.

Electronic voting for the nominee could begin as soon as next Thursday.

However we’re told the exact date will depend on who enters the race.

The DNC hopes states wrap up the process by August 7th so the eventual nominee has time to select a running mate ahead of state ballot access deadlines.

The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to begin in Chicago on August 19th.
