Fort Totten man sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on sex abuse charges

(FARGO, ND) – A Fort Totten man has been sentenced to federal prison for sexually abusing children.

Wendell Snell, age 42, will serve 30 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to five counts of Abusive Sexual Contact of a Child. When sentenced, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Peter Welte imposed six-year, statutory maximum sentences on each count, running consecutively. After serving the 30-year sentence, Snell will be on supervised release for the remainder of his life.

Snell’s sentence and please relate to sexual abuse of three children under the age of 12. The abuse happened between 2011 and 2014 on the Spirit Lake Reservation.
