Fargo Democrat introduces bills to protect IVF and birth control in North Dakota

FARGO, ND — A Fargo State Representative says she’ll give Republican lawmakers the chance to vote on two bills that protect IVF and birth control in North Dakota.

Democrat Karla Rose Hanson says one bill protects in vitro fertilization and other fertility treatments, while the other safeguards access to contraception.

“To truly have reproductive freedom, North Dakotans need protected access to birth control and fertility treatments,” said Katie Christensen, North Dakota’s State Director of External Affairs for Planned Parenthood North Dakota Action Fund. “Access to birth control and fertility treatments are overwhelmingly popular, and it’s time for North Dakota to pass policies that would improve people’s lives, especially in light of attacks on these forms of health care across the United States.”

Hanson says the upcoming legislative session gives far-right politicians the chance to prove they won’t come after IVF or contraception by supporting what she called two “common-sense bills.”
