MINOT, ND — A hearing is set for Thursday to determine whether or not Nichole Rice’s murder trial will begin in January as scheduled.
Rice is charged with murder in the 2007 death of her then-roommate Anita Knutson. Rice was arrested in March of 2022 and her trial is scheduled to start on January 6th in Grand Forks. A filing by defense attorneys claims there’s new evidence from the victim’s body that is of “extreme importance” to their case and they need to push the trial date back.
Thursday’s hearing takes place in Minot.
