Cooking fire causes damage to Grand Forks apartment

(GRAND FORKS) — Unattended cooking is to blame for a fire Saturday in Grand Forks. Grand Forks Fire Captain Jake Kennedy said crews responded to the 1100 block of South Landeco Lane at just after 5 p.m. Saturday for a report of a cooking fire. Crews arrived on scene and found smoke coming from a second floor apartment. Crews quickly extinguished the blaze, with moderate fire damage confined to the kitchen area. Minor smoke damage was found in the rest of the fire unit. Crews ventilated smoke from the building.

Tenants of the fire unit were displaced for the night. All other tenants were able to return to their units.
