COLFAX, ND — Several motorists are hospitalized, with one facing multiple charges, following a vehicle crash during an ambulance fire response and traffic delay on I-29.
While first responders were on the scene of the ambulance fire, traffic backed up and led to a four vehicle crash at approximately 10:08 p.m. that led to several injuries and charges. Authorities say Fargo resident Donald Lawuya did not notice the stalled traffic and rear ended a vehicle driven by West Fargo resident Jodi Erfle. The crash impacted a total of four vehicles and nine people, with five being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Erfle was also hospitalized, but with life-threatening injuries.
Below is a full list of injuries.
- Donald Lawuya, Donya Eaya, Julie Schnaible, Susan Helms, and Mary Severson were transported for non-life-threatening injuries to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Lawuya was arrested at a Fargo hospital on multiple charges, including DUI, DUI Refusal, and Driving Under Suspension. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
