Victims in deadly North Dakota car crash were Mormon missionaries

(Mercer Co., ND)  —  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints says two young men killed in a crash on Highway 49 in Mercer County were on a mission in North Dakota.

Robert Gardner of Utah and Jacob Kesler of Nevada died at the scene Tuesday afternoon after hitting the back of a semi stopped on the highway because of an accident.

Church officials say Kesler had been serving in Bismarck for about two years and Gardner for 18 months.
