(Minneapolis, MN) -- Metro Transit authorities have announced a significant decrease in violent crimes on light rails and buses in Minneapolis the first four months of the year.

Violent crimes like homicide, assault, and robberies have declined by 16% compared to the same period last year. Overall crime on all transit routes has decreased by 7%.

Police attribute these improvements to increased patrols and the implementation of the Security and Safety Action Plan.
