UPDATED: Trump uninjured as shots ring out near Florida golf course

The FBI says they are investigating “What appears to be an attempted assassination” of the former president.

Members of the FBI say a man was seen in brush vegetation near his golf course in West Palm Beach. According to authorities, he was located with a rifle barrel sticking out of a fence. The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, allegedly fled the scene after being fired upon by agents. He later arrested after his vehicle was stopped along a nearby highway.

According to authorities, an AK-47 was found in the bushes where Routh was found, approximately 300 to 500 yards away from where the former president was while golfing. Law enforcement officials say he had two backpacks, ceramic plates, and a GoPro camera.

(Palm Beach County, FL)    Former President Trump is safe after  a shooting in the vicinity of his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Reports indicate as Trump was golfing at the Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach, when multiple shots were fired nearby.

According to the New York Post, Trump was leaving the Trump International Golf Course when two individuals exchanged gunfire.  The neighborhood near the golf course is reportedly a high-crime area.   Police and the U.S. Secret Service are investigating.
