Klobuchar resolution to undo tariffs on Canada passes the Senate

WASHINGTON –  Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar’s resolution designed to undo President Trump’s 25 percent tariff on most imports from Canada advances.

It passed 51 to 48 out of the upper chamber with support from four Republican senators, but not from North Dakota Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer.

“The Canadians look for other markets and there’s other countries, other manufacturers, other farmers and other nations who say ‘We are more than happy to fill your contract, sir.’ ‘We’re more than happy to help you out with aluminum, ma’am.’ because of these tariffs,” Klobuchar said.

It’s not clear if the legislation will pass the Republican-controlled House.
