Biden: “No place for misinformation” surrounding hurricane relief efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — President Biden says “there is simply no place” for disinformation about hurricanes and relief efforts.

Biden went after claims made by some Republicans that hurricane survivors would only receive $750-dollars and FEMA funds had been redirected to migrants. Biden said those claims are simply not true. He also called claims by Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green that the government is controlling the weather “beyond ridiculous.” The president said no one should make the American people question if their government will be there for them when disaster strikes.

The controversy started when Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the hurricane season. However, he added the Biden-Harris administration has requested more funding from Congress, but that second part has been omitted from the funding criticisms by some.
