BOSTON, MA — The former Massachusetts Air National Guardsman who admitted to leaking classified military documents has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Jack Teixeira appeared in a Boston federal court Tuesday, where a judge handed down his sentence for violating the Espionage Act. Prosecutors asked for the 22-year-old to receive 200 months, or just over 16 years in prison. They described his leaking of the sensitive information as “one of the most significant and consequential violations of the Espionage Act in American History.”
Teixeira admitted to sharing the classified information with other users on the social media platform Discord.
