(Washington, DC) — Special Counsel Jack Smith is seeking a gag order against former President Trump.
On Friday, Smith asked the judge overhearing Trump’s classified documents case to block Trump from speaking about the trial in any way that could endanger law enforcement officials. The request comes after Trump falsely claimed President Biden had officers “locked and loaded” and “ready to take [him] out” before they searched his Mar-a-Lago home for classified documents in 2022.
Smith’s filing argued Trump’s false claims could expose officers to threats of violence or harassment.
