Wheat harvest could yield record crop

(Fargo, ND) — Officials with the National Wheat Foundation say some wheat fields in North Dakota are showing the potential for a record-setting spring crop.

The North Dakota Monitor says three last days of field inspection during the annual Wheat Quality Council tour showed the possibility for 100 bushels per acre yields.

Earlier this month the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated the state’s spring wheat yields to be 56 bushels per acre.

The projected increase is 14-percent higher than yields a year ago.
