BARNES COUNTY, N.D. – A Valley City woman is dead after a crash near Sanborn Monday morning.
It happened around 8:15 at the intersection at North Dakota Highway 1 and County Road 22 one mile east of town during foggy conditions.
The Highway Patrol says a car driven by a 15-year-old Valley City girl crossed the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by a semi with a trailer full of soybeans. Both vehicles left the road and the semi rested on its left side.
The semi driver, a 59-year-old Sanborn man, the driver of the car and the passenger, a 46-year-old Valley City woman, were taken to the hospital in Valley City where the passenger died. The teen driver was then taken to a Fargo hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities say everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt. The crash remains under investigation.
