(VALLEY CITY, ND) –A Valley City man is facing charges for using artificial intelligence to generate child sexual abuse images.
Police say 49-year old Mitchell Kohler confessed to finding local girls on social media to create deepfakes of nude images. Police also found him in possession of other sexually abusive material. North Dakota does not have current laws in place to criminalize the use of deepfakes, but the state legislature is working to create stricter penalties.
