UPDATE: Education Minnesota apologizes for mailer incorrectly showing Moorhead Schools endorsed school board candidates

UPDATE – Teachers union Education Minnesota apologizes for sending mailers appearing to show Moorhead Area Public Schools endorsed two school board candidates.

Education Minnesota says the mailer includes a “serious error.”

“During production, a disclaimer and return address were included that said the piece was from the Moorhead Area Public Schools. We didn’t catch the mistake until it reached the mailboxes in our community. To be clear, the endorsement of Marissa Ahlering and Azad Berwari comes from our union, Education Moorhead. The school district has never made endorsements of political candidates because state law prohibits it. It did not do so in this race. We apologize for the error and the confusion that it has caused. In the coming days, Education Moorhead will contact voters by mail and phone to apologize and correct the error,” Education Minnesota said in a statement.
