(FARGO, ND) – Officials with The Salvation Army say a unique coin has been found during their 2024 Red Kettle campaign.
On November 27, a volunteer was sorting donations when she found a 2016 Australian Gold Kangaroo one-ounce gold coin.
Gold Core says the coin is made up of nearly one ounce of pure gold and has a face value of $100, backed by the Australian government. JM Bullion said the coin could be sold for up to more than $2,800 after being appraised.
The coin originated in 1987.
