Senator Kevin Cramer on The Jay Thomas Show
WASHINGTON – North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer says he’s concerned with Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency gaining control of the Treasury Department’s Bureau of Fiscal Service payment system.
That includes the government’s accounting, central payment systems and Social Security numbers of most taxpayers.
On The Jay Thomas Show, caller Matt called on Cramer to do something about Musk’s actions adding Musk is unelected and can get access to government contract information despite being a government contractor himself.
“If not for Elon Musk, we may not have a space program. It’s not like we owe him a little bit of something. We need to make sure that if Elon Musk wants to have this oversight and use those skills and use those gifts in a patriotic way for his nation, we should let him, but there has to be some guardrails. Anybody that is nominated by an elected president and confirmed by an elected Congress, they most of the time have to step away from their business interests or at the very least disclose their business interest,” Cramer said
Cramer adds President Donald Trump created DOGE and received a mandate from the election which includes looking into wasteful government spending. Cramer says it’s too early to stop Musk because of that mandate, but we have to watch his moves carefully.
