Technology aids law enforcement in dealing with crime

(FARGO) — Technology advancements have helped local authorities deal with crime.

Fargo Police Captain Bill Ahlfeldt, who heads the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, said the city’s Flock camera system has helped to solve the issues of violent crime in Fargo, as well as the crime gun intelligence center that is being built at the Fargo Police Department.

Additionally, the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) system is being installed at the Fargo Police Department, through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

“A large part of that intelligence data, information and evidence gathered through these systems, analyzed by our intelligence and analysis unit, will help us to narrow down and focus on individuals that are committing these violent crimes – shootings, shots fired, some of these others in our city,” Ahlfeldt said. “It’s going to allow us to inhibit to stop these individuals from doing these types of things here.”
