NORTH DAKOTA – Battery materials research takes a step forward in North Dakota.
The Department of Defense announces a partnership with Talon Metals. The research will include methods for nickel recovery from U.S. domestic mineral formations.
Last year, Senator John Hoeven secured $115 million in funding from the Department of Energy for Talon Metals to build a battery materials manufacturing facility in Mercer County.
“It will process nickel into nickel canthus for electric batteries. That’s vitally important so we building these batteries in the United States rather than getting them from places like China,” Hoeven said.
